Before diving into the exciting things I experienced, let me give you a brief account of how it all started.
Since childhood, just like everyone else, I have always been fascinated with hill stations, especially snow. My parents never got a chance to visit such places as they were always busy working. However, I knew I wanted to travel and visit all my dream places. So, when I started doing internships, I decided to visit one place this year.
As I said, Manali is the first place I have visited and it was all new for me from travelling by bus to staying and managing everything all at once. I always used to see the mountains in my dreams and never thought it was ever possible for me to visit them in person. The moment I stepped out of the bus I was expecting to see snow. Just like a kid, I wanted things to happen quickly. I was excited to visit the most popular place during Manali Trip – Solang Valley.

Solang Valley, an open meadow, 13 Km from Manali, bustles with a lot of adventure sporting activities which include paragliding, horse riding, ballooning, gondola (ropeway), camping and quad-bike rides. So, I and my friends took a bus to Solang Valley and trekked up the hill to reach the meadow.

There will be people offering you a whole package of activities along with horse riding, but trust me do not fall for it. It is far better to trek up the hill as it is fun and you can explore the place on your own. They also offer Yak to travel to reach up on the hill.
You can also save your money for the activities that you want to do. Don’t forget to wear good winter clothes that will cover your body properly. On the contrary, I was pretty much mad about the snow and did not feel cold.

When I reached the point where I started to see the snow, it felt like achieving a milestone. Touching the snow was like putting your hand on fire, it made my hands numb for quite a long time. So make sure if you plan to ski there, you must carry a pair of gloves.
The snow was slippery and I fell almost every time I tried to take my next step. Another piece of advice from my side is that you must carry a good pair of boots to refrain from falling.
However, I did not spend much on clothing accessories recommended for snow as I am a big-time foodie and I would rather spend on eating.

People in Manali are kind and a good company to be around. The beauty that I saw there is stuck in my mind and it makes me want to think about all the beautiful things this world has to offer.
Travelling for me was getting a lot of pictures clicked, but this trip changed the way I looked at things. Now I travel only to discover the unseen. That’s why I did not just stop there. To see where I am headed next, stay tuned!
